Sabine Gilley

Sabine is a Jersey Channel Island born filmmaker. Her directorial debut short documentary film 'She Fishes' won 'Best Documentary' at Emerging Talent Film Festival 2025, and at The Hidden Film Festival 2025 where the film screened at The British Museum. The documentary film also qualified for the British Independent Film Awards 2025. Sabine strives to focus on Jersey's island culture and heritage through her filmmaking.

 

Within her most recent experimental short film, 'You Can't Outrun Yourself', Sabine portrays themes of identity and surrealism, paying homage to the surrealist movement of Claude Cahun, Marcel Moore & Maya Deren.

 

Previously, whilst studying BA Filmmaking at Kingston School of Art & MA Post Production Editing at Bournemouth University, Sabine had a selection of her student films screened at festivals from in the UK to Europe as well as within the United States. During this time she won accolades from winning her category to honourable mentions.
